Aon Responsible Investment Event: Combating Modern Slavery
Venue:
Lloyds Building, One Lime Street, London. EC3M 7HA.
More than 40 million people are currently in modern slavery worldwide. There is a lack of transparency, reporting and effective policy on this issue. For investors and pension funds concerned about their social impacts, understanding and addressing the presence of modern slavery in their portfolios is critical. It is everyone's responsibility to collaborate and work on eradicating slavery practices in the modern day.

The event will be structured around an informative panel discussion, with encouragement for the audience to participate. It is an open environment in which we will aim to address:
  • What is modern slavery and its relevance for investors and pension funds
  • The practical ways pension scheme trustees can begin to monitor and mitigate modern slavery practices.
  • What are the practical steps investment managers can take to address this issue.
Panel speakers:
  • Dame Sara Thornton (University of Nottingham, and UK's Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner)
  • Matt Crossman (Stewardship Director, Rathbones Group Plc)
  • Madeline Wright (Deputy Portfolio Manager and Head of Investment ESG, Lindsell Train)
  • Vera Apedo (Responsible Investment Consultant, Aon)
